As marked in its statutes, one of the principal objectives of ILDES is to provide research services for institutions and people who work in the field of the economic and social development. Therefore a member of the executive committee would manage the department of research. Moreover, the ILDES always had the deep conviction that its activities were to be based on complete and precise research of geographical areas or human groups targeted by its activities. This explains the role granted to the department of Research since the foundation of the ILDES and the high degree of qualification of its members. Indeed, this department is directed by a researcher that has a long and varied experience and is helped by sociologists and economists, by engineers and investigators. These researchers have long experience at local, regional and international level, within ministerial cabinets and with research organizations, universities in Lebanon and abroad.
